TOWNE CRIER SCREEN SAVER for Windows 10 and 11 version 1.0.0
==============================================================================

When your computer sits idle, it shows the Snoqualmie Towne Crier's live
board, full screen. Move the mouse or press a key and you are right back
where you left off.

INSTALL (about two minutes)
---------------------------
1. Before you unzip: right-click the ZIP > Properties. If there is an
"Unblock" box near the bottom, tick it and click OK. (Windows marks
everything downloaded; this clears the mark for every file inside.)

2. Right-click the ZIP > Extract All... > Extract.

3. Move TowneCrier.scr to a folder you will keep, for example a
"Towne Crier" folder in Documents. Windows runs the screen saver from
wherever the file sits, so do not leave it in Downloads if you ever
   tidy that folder.

4. Right-click TowneCrier.scr > Install. (On Windows 11, click
"Show more options" first if Install is not in the menu.)
Screen Saver Settings opens with TowneCrier chosen.

5. Pick how many minutes to "Wait" and click OK. Click Preview to see it
   straight away.

If Windows says "Windows protected your PC": click "More info", then
"Run anyway". The screen saver is not code-signed yet, and Windows says
this about any new program it has not seen many times.

If your PC has Smart App Control turned on, Windows may refuse to run it
at all, because it is not code-signed yet. Please leave Smart App Control
on; a signed version will be posted at the address above.

SETTINGS
--------
Screen Saver Settings > Settings... lets you show a different board (your
own venue's, say) and try it right away.

WHAT IT DOES, EXACTLY
---------------------
- Opens https://flapcast-itmedic.azurewebsites.net/tv?saver=1 in
Microsoft Edge, full screen with nothing else on it, using a separate
Edge profile kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\TowneCrierScreenSaver. Your everyday
Edge, its passwords and its sign-ins are never touched.
- Stays silent, and lets your PC turn the display off and go to sleep on
  its usual schedule.
- If the internet is down it shows the Towne Crier sign and tries again
  every 30 seconds.
- Nothing is collected from your PC, and the board loads no analytics for
screen savers. The board counts a screen saver the way it counts any
screen that opens it: one anonymous tag, no name, nothing else.
- If you use "On resume, display logon screen", Windows still locks as
usual when the screen saver ends.
- Any key, click or real mouse movement closes Edge and ends it. A bumped
desk (a nudge of a few pixels) does not.

REMOVE IT
---------
Screen Saver Settings > Screen saver: (None) > OK. Then delete
TowneCrier.scr and the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\TowneCrierScreenSaver.

CHECK THE DOWNLOAD
------------------
SHA256.txt holds the fingerprint of TowneCrier.scr. To compare, open
PowerShell in this folder and run:
  Get-FileHash .\TowneCrier.scr

The complete source code is in the source folder, with build.cmd to
rebuild it using only what already ships with Windows.
