About ITMedic
What is ITMedic?
ITMedic is the IT practice of Green IT Consulting, LLC, in Snoqualmie, Washington, and customers know our team as the ITMedics. We serve as the virtual CIO/CTO office for fire departments, EMS agencies, dispatch centers and public safety organizations.
Who do you work with?
Fire, EMS, dispatch and public safety agencies first. We also work with cities, counties and other public agencies, and with practices and small organizations on Microsoft 365, such as a dental or medical office or a professional firm, where nobody has the title "IT director".
What do you help with?
- Microsoft 365: modernize and simplify your environment, starting with what you already license.
- Cybersecurity: identity, device and data security, set up and documented for CJIS and HIPAA environments.
- Stations and the field: station networks, Wi-Fi, mobile devices and connectivity for crews.
- IT leadership: an IT director's seat at your table without an IT director's salary line.
Are you affiliated with Microsoft?
No. ITMedic is an independent consultancy and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft. We are independent of every product we assess: if the answer is that you already own the control and have not switched it on, that is what the report says.
Will you just tell us to buy more Microsoft?
No. We start with the license-to-control gap: what your tenant already owns and has not switched on, before anything new is proposed.
Who does the work?
We do. Every assessment is run by us, and we present the findings to your board ourselves. Ted Green, our founder, runs every Readiness Check and every Health Check.
Twenty AI agents with written job descriptions run the back office of our own consulting business. On a Fractional CIO seat, our agents prepare the work, and Ted reviews it and presents it to you.
Getting started
Where do we start?
If you're not sure, with the free Copilot Readiness Check: thirty minutes on Teams, one page back within two business days. If you already know what you need, book 15 minutes with Ted to make sure it fits. Every step after that is run by us, and each one is the natural next step from the one before.
What is the Copilot Readiness Check?
Thirty minutes on Teams, looking at your Microsoft 365 tenant together: licenses, the apps people actually live in, how your data is organized, and what your team is already trying to do with AI on their own.
Within two business days you get one page, in plain language: what you're licensed for and not using; where AI is safe with your data, and where it isn't; the three uses to start with; and the one governance gap to close before anything else. It's free, and it stays free: the page is yours either way.
Is there a catch?
No. We do not fix anything during the session, and there is no pitch at the end: you get the page whether or not we ever speak again. If the page says you need nothing, it says so.
Do you need admin access to our systems?
Not for the Readiness Check: nothing to prepare, no admin access. The Pulse Check is read-only; nothing is installed or changed. The Microsoft 365 Health Check is read-only too: no agent installed, nothing changed.
Something is going wrong with our technology. Where do we begin?
Tell us where it hurts. Where Does It Hurt? is a free IT triage: describe what's going wrong in your own words, and you get a treatment path in triage order and a care report with checklists, in Word, today. It's in beta, so tell Ted what we got wrong.
What's the difference between the Pulse Check and the Health Check?
Both take two hours, are read-only, and give you one page back.
- The Rapid Security Pulse Check is for fire, EMS and dispatch: the five gaps an auditor would find first in your Microsoft 365 tenant, and which of them you already own the license to close.
- The Microsoft 365 Health Check is for leaders of public agencies and organizations that already pay for Microsoft 365 and aren't sure it is set up right, or being used: the five things most worth fixing, and which of them you already own the license to fix.
What are the IT assessments?
Three fixed-fee, fixed-scope assessments for fire, EMS and public safety agencies. Each ends in a decision your board can vote on, not a binder, and we present the findings to your board ourselves. The Foundation Assessment scores your department against the public safety IT readiness checklist (10 areas, 176 controls) and names the three things to fix first.
Prices and buying
How much does it cost?
The Readiness Check, Where Does It Hurt? and the two-minute tools are free. Every assessment is fixed-fee and fixed-scope. Our prices are published beside each offer on our website: the assessments on Assessment Packages; the Pulse Check, implementation, Managed Services and the Fractional CIO on Fire Department Packages; the Health Check on its own page; and AI coaching on IT Leadership.
Assessment Packages Fire Department Packages Health Check IT Leadership
What if the work takes longer than planned?
The price we quote is the price on the invoice. The scope is the scope section of the proposal you sign. If the work takes more of our time than that section describes, that is our cost, not yours.
How can we pay?
Every assessment can be billed by purchase order or split across two budget years; the terms are on each assessment. The Health Check can be paid online by card or bank transfer, or by purchase order. Government purchase cards and EFT are accepted.
Can a grant pay for it?
We can't promise a grant. The Comprehensive Assessment includes a grant alignment memo that tags each roadmap item with the grant or budget line it maps to. Check current programs with your grant administrator.
How can our agency buy from you?
Your agency's purchasing policy decides how you can buy. Tell us the process you follow, and we'll give you what it asks for: a written proposal, a quote, or a response to your solicitation. Our capability statement, with our NAICS codes, is on our Capabilities page.
Your data and AI
Can you make us HIPAA- or CJIS-compliant?
We don't promise compliance, and nothing on our pages is legal or compliance advice. What we do is set up and document identity, device and data security for CJIS and HIPAA environments, and show where you stand against the public safety IT readiness checklist, with the three things to fix first.
Is AI safe to use with our data?
That is the line the Readiness Check draws: what stays inside your Microsoft tenant, and what never goes into a consumer chatbot. Consumer AI plans — Claude.ai Free, Pro, Max and Team included — are not HIPAA-compliant, and we will not pretend otherwise. Copilot inside your own Microsoft 365 tenant is where patient-adjacent work belongs, and even there some uses stay off the table.
We're on GCC. Can you help?
Yes. For a department on GCC the first question is what your tenant is actually licensed for, because the answer is different from the commercial cloud and most quotes assume it isn't. The Readiness Check tells you what you have, what CJIS lets you do with it, and the first three uses that give officers and admin staff time back without touching a record you'd have to disclose.
What happens to the information we give you?
We ask only for what we need to answer you, we use it to answer you, and we never sell it. What you pick, tick or type in a two-minute tool stays in your browser and is gone when you reload. Please never put patient, case or personnel details, or passwords, into any of our pages or chats.
Ongoing help
Do you offer ongoing IT support?
Yes. Our managed IT covers monitoring, help desk, patching, endpoint management, backup and recovery, and vendor management for stations, apparatus, and offices. It moves with your stations, seats and devices, and is quoted on an assessment's readout.
What is a Fractional CIO?
A standing seat for agencies and small organizations with no IT director: the roadmap kept, the board reported to quarterly, the budget built with you each year. Our agents prepare the work, and Ted reviews it and presents it to you. There are four levels, from a monthly check-in to a seat in the room.
What is AI coaching?
A 90-day sprint for up to 15 people from one organization. You leave with your own written line for what AI may and may not touch, three workflows running by day 90, your procedures and templates written with you, and Copilot switched on where you already license it.
Coaching works on everyday work: letters, reports, schedules, policies. It never opens patient records or criminal justice information.
Can you help with device management and Windows 11?
Yes. Device management with Microsoft Intune puts every agency computer, phone, tablet and vehicle computer under one rule: encrypted, current, and wipeable by someone who knows how. Windows 11 planning tells you which computers need a decision now, which can wait, and what to have in place before anyone upgrades. Each has a free two-minute tool to start with.
What else do you build?
- Dashboards and reports: live dashboards for the shift and finished reports for the meeting, built in Power BI in your department's own Microsoft 365 tenant.
- NDAs and guest access in Microsoft 365: one form in, a signed and sealed agreement out, filed and kept on schedule inside Microsoft 365. Then the same controls on the work you build with the people you invite in.
- FDHQ: an AI command staff for fire department administration: twelve agents, each with a firefighter's name, a written charter, and a professional standard it reasons at. Nothing dispatches.
On your own
What can we do on our own, for free?
Three two-minute tools, read from Microsoft's own pages, with nothing to sign up for: what's in your Microsoft 365 plan, the Microsoft Intune check, and Windows 11 planning. What you pick, tick or type stays in your browser.
And the IT Readiness Assessment Checklist, the checklist our assessments score against: 10 areas, 176 controls, 352 points. It's a Word download, and no email is needed.
